Net points = points scored – points allowed (a.k.a. score margin or “margin of victory”). Net points are distributed to every play, not just scoring plays, by statistical expected points models that account for field position, down, distance, and play type. Early in the season, these numbers will fluctuate quite a bit.
Each team’s net point categories sum to the total, although there could be minor discrepancies due to rounding error. They are sorted by total net points per game within divisions.
